Cool Jean Lafitte-Calhoun County,Texas-question

Greetings All,
I'm a newbie to metal detecting / treasure hunting. I have, however, been doing a bit of research on a lost treasure, supposidely located not too far from where I live. Jean Lafitte, the 19th Century pirate allegedly buried quite a bit of treasure/loot near the mouth of the Lavaca River in Calhoun County, Texas. Has anyone found this treasure or have any information about this?
Here are two links I've found on the web (one from this site):

Buried Treasures in North America Jean Laffite's Loot

Thanks,

Have not heard anything on that but maybe some of the others here may have. John Tomlison post stories and He may Know something on it. I'm sure when he see's this he'll chime in. Real Quest there and wish you all the luck in researching and hopefully finding some of it !

Welcome to TQ! I have a friend who claims to be a decendant of Jean Lafitte...I'll try to find out if he knows of any stories or claims regarding hidden loot....good luck - it sounds like a great hunt!
