Trip to Japan

I frequently go to Japan for work, and will be leaving next month. This will be the first time however to take my Minelab excaliber detector with me. My main purpose is to beach hunt during the off season. I have been studying the rules and reading up on the limited info that I can get hold of. It's not very popular there for several reasons so I'm thinking it should be good hunting. I just bought I new Pelican hard case that is airline approved so as not to damage my detector during the tranist. It's about 7000 mile flight and will take around 20 or hours total travel time before I hit the ground there. The biggest reason for it not being a popular place to detect is that you a supposed to turn everything you find in to the local police and are required to wait for 6 months, then if nobody claims your finds than it's yours. The most interesting part of this trip will be that you have thousands of years of history there and people who do hunt have been know to find some really old coins. I will be writing about my trip and my finds at the end of March. So stay tuned.

Good luck on your hunting! We'll be waiting to hear about your finds!!! I'm thinking about bringing my metal detector to Iraq when I go in Sept.! Wonder what I might find and what the rules are on that?????

Thanks for your comment guys. I just hope I don't dig up any left over bombs. Just joking. But I have read that some of the Asian islands this does happen. I'm sure this will be a safe trip, the temps will be in the 60's there so I will have to stay in the shallow waters. I will be sure to post my finds, I am really excited about this trip.
