Five of the 6 rolls were Merc's and the last roll was a mix of both mostly Rosie's. I went to the bank where we get the coins and ask the teller if there was any more rolls like that in the vault. She went in for me and checked a found 2 more rolls all Merc's. I ended up with 40.00 in silver dimes. After I showed the teller what was in those rolls she said she remebers a teenager brought them in for paper money. We think he found his part of his parent's coin collection.
I'll bet there were some upset parents when that came to light!

I went to my credit union just before Christmas and got the last 4 rolls of halves they had, didn't have any large dollars (didn't really expect them to). The oldest half out of the 4 rolls was a 1972.

A few years ago, my father-in-law took all of his silver dimes and quarters that he couldn't read the dates on to the coin counter at the the same credit union, trying to lighten his load before they moved. Thought that if you couldn't read the date, they'd only be worth face value. I must have spent $400-$500 on rolls of dimes and quarters and found no silver at all .

I have a friend who works at the bank, she saves the old coins for her husband. I called her tonight she said the same thing as your bank no need for halves so they don't get them. :santa1:
