Default No Luck at the Bank Today...

...went to the bank to see if I could buy some half-dollars by the box...was told they don't see the need for halves - so they don't bring them in that way...OK - how about some rolls of quarters? ...was told (and shown) that they're bringing in only the new issue state quarters...

So much for finding silver from the bank....anyone else running into this?

Good luck if you get to the casino. I do better at cards than the slots. My wife however, put $5 in $5 machine just to try it and won $1800.00

If that had been me - I'd have asked for the $1800 in coins - and spent the rest of the time looking for silver!

Since I work security at a casino I see a few old coins and bills. the employees don't know what old money looks like and every thing gets marked with a counterfeit pen. Due to the composition of the old notes the pen marks black and ruins them. Ive seen ruined red seal notes and silver certificates in excellent shape ruined.

My best silver find was about 12 years ago. I was working part time for one of my mom's best friend. Exxon Gas station, at night i would stock the shelves and order products. While getting the morning register drawer ready I open a roll of dimes. Inside that roll were all Merc's, I look in the safe and there were five more rolls just like the first one. Five of the 6 rolls were Merc's and the last roll was a mix of both mostly Rosie's. I went to the bank where we get the coins and ask the teller if there was any more rolls like that in the vault. She went in for me and checked a found 2 more rolls all Merc's. I ended up with 40.00 in silver dimes. After I showed the teller what was in those rolls she said she remebers a teenager brought them in for paper money. We think he found his part of his parent's coin collection.

We had one elderly lady come in with a bunch of new 20's with consecutive serial numbers from a safety deposit box after her husband passed away. They marked them too. I about got sick as they were dated 1923;marked and ruined also.
