Default poppy or anyone who knows

I'm really interested in the gem hunting any type rubies, saphires, etc. I am also interested in gold like the people who go to streams and hunt for gold. Are there any places I can do that sort of stuff here in Florida? I know they have all those things in the carolinas and Arkansas, NY etc but is there anywhere here or am I out of gas? Will in the future visit the Carolinas and other places. Let me know. thanks.

Someplaces will let you buy a bucket of dirt, loto style, then add the gems and/pr gold to the buckets with the dirt. The claim is this dirt came from a gold/gem mine, maybe true.. but its just plain ol' dirt w/ gems and gold added later. True Story~
