Default Member input needed

I posted this in an area that evidently requires approval (sorry), but I wanted some input from members to see what you all think of the idea.
--------------------------------------

Pending approval of the Administration of TQ, I’d like to initiate a little “game”. It’s called “Send Metal Man on a trip around the world”.. Here’s my idea……

I’ll take a picture of Metal Man, post the picture, and send him to the next “player” who agrees to the rules. In turn, the next “player” will post a picture and in turn, forward him to the next “player” in line. This will continue for the period of 1 year.

I will include a sheet to sign, as well as adding the location and date of where the picture was taken. At the end of the year, Metal Man will be auctioned-off, with this sheet of names & locations, and all proceeds donated to a charity involving children or the disabled, and metal detecting. Additional sheets may be added if required.

There are a few simple rules to the game:
1- You are responsible for shipping to the next player in line. A Delivery Confirmation/Tracking Number is required.

2- You’re required to post the picture, and have Metal Man back in the mail on his way to the next player within 7 days of receiving.

3- You’re responsible to keep track of the person next in line, until the point which they have posted their picture, and all are aware they have taken possession of Metal Man, then it’s their responsibility to do the same.

4-On the 1 year Anniversary date, Metal Man is to be mailed to Pappy (or whoever he delegates) to hold until the auction is completed, and where he will see that all the funds from the auction are donated on behalf of the members of TQ. Also, the players grant permission for their pictures to be downloaded to a CD, which will be included with the auction of Metal Man, as will the signed sheet.

We did something similar within our family about 10 years a go. We sent an album and had everyone put photos as well as journal entries. It worked out very well. Sounds like metal man should is itching to travel. Good Luck

This sounds to me like the "Flat Stanley" project. The Official Flat Stanley Project Cute project, and cute read, as I have read the book. The thing here is, you'd have to take Metal Man with you on your MD trips and then journal about the place you took him and what you found. Well, just a suggestion. Flat Stanley I know has been a big hit! Your idea sounds GREAT! Hope it all works out.

My son is doing a "Flat Stanley" thing at school. We sent Stanley to Norway and we can't wait for him to get back.

Is the distribution limited to members of this forum?

I wouldn't want to limit the pics taken in any way. Everyone isn't able to get out & hunt. Pics could be anything, MD trip would be a good one, but so would setting by a roaring fire in a fireplace in the North Pole, or with the Northern Lights in the backround, near any historical landmark, in anyplace that you would think makes an interesting picture.

I think limiting the game to the members here is necessary, because at the end of it all, they will be the ones getting credit for the donation, and it is a requirrement of the game for a picture to be posted on this forum, so they'd basically have to be a member. Also, there will be a thread of participants to be "next on the list", and without 1 centralized thread, there's no way to track his location or know when to expect him next.

I just PM'd Gregory to see if this was something he'd allow the forum to do. If for any reason it isn't, (and it's his forum, so whatever his decision is fine), I'll move it over to my forum, but that would require thouse who want to participate to register there.

Also, I mentioned PAPPYs name, because being new to the site I wasn't aware Gregory was the "main" Admin as well as the founder, so it would be his (Gregory) name in place of PAPPYs in the initial posting.

I think this is an awesome idea! I can't wait to see where all the metal man goes!! Question: Will there be a sticky thread that pictures can be posted to as metal man makes his rounds? Or will the pictures be emailed and we see 'em all at the end? I'm hoping for the former!

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun!

The hope is for a thread to be pinned to the top, and pics posted there. Also to keep it visible for all to see & hopefully join in to be a part-of.....because in the end, it's about the fun of doing it, and collecting as much as possible for a donation to a worthy cause.
