I run my clad in a tumbler with crushed garnet & gritty hand soap w/water for an hour, dry then roll.

I know they hate me at the bank but I just throw it all in a big pot with the other change and roll away.

We don't own a tumbler either but I put mine in a glass jar with soap and vinegar and shake it a bit and then let is sit. Made a mistake of letting it sit too long and the vinegar at through the coins. Never seen anything like this in my life. The bank told us they won't accept money which is dark. (The ones you find which are just dark from being in the ground too long) My husband said, "I guess they will if I have them rolled". lol.

Default yeah

what I do is go to dollar store and get a whole bag of coin rolls then between the kids and I roll all the money. So far last year had about 78 dollars and yes I did clean them with soap and water. Some coins especially pennies were dark but ledgible. I mean money is money. If my bank ever got mad I would go to another bank or chain.

I tumble mine if they're REAL cruddy - but if just dark (as long as they're readable) I roll them...I mix them well with other coins (i.e. put the dug clad in the middle of the roll)...so far - no problems!

I have not rolled mine as yet. I think I will when I hit an even $100 in clad.

Anybody ever use one of the coinstar machinse instead? Just wondering if they will take the "dark" stuff? I hate to loose the surcharge but it sure is easy, Beale.

Coinstar will take just about anything, Beale - it senses the coins by size and weight I suppose...I just hate paying a percentage of my clad for the privilege of the machine counting it for me...just cheap I guess!

Default Thanks Yall

Coin star charges 8% of the total. I rather roll them at this point. Legal tender means banks cant refuse money that is in current circulation? soo I sure hope my bank doesnt get pissy with me. I will walk in with my turrets syndrome flaming- spit on me for Im on Fire~
