Will cold weather harm the detector?

I have an Xterra 70 that I leave in my car most of the time. Lately, it's been getting down around 25 degrees or so at night.

Conversely, summer temps can get to around 100 in the garage or maybe hotter in the car.

Can temperature extremes damage the electronics?

Heat definately can, warping plastic parts. Cold, not so much.....but condensation will.....from "up & down" temps. Don't take a chance (not to mention theft)......take it inside with you.

It gets very hot here in Fl also, I'll be keeping mine inside when not using it, just to be on the safe side, also to keep people from breaking in my car, they don't need much of a reason as it is here.

It can definitely hurt the batteries and if they leak,big trouble follows.

My interest in the cold weather question was not so much in keeping the machine stored in car for long periods of time - but rather in using it in cold weather...I've never seen anything that said detecting in cold weather would harm it - but wanted to see what some of our "long-timers" had to say about it.

Cold can be hard on the Liquid Crystal Display. Can cause a permanent rainbow effect. & its very hard on batteries.

Ark - what would you say is the maximum cold temperature that you would use your machine in?

Hm. Bigbill once posted a thread about freezing his batteries to extend their life. Why is the cold hard on the batteries?
