It gets very hot here in Fl also, I'll be keeping mine inside when not using it, just to be on the safe side, also to keep people from breaking in my car, they don't need much of a reason as it is here.

My interest in the cold weather question was not so much in keeping the machine stored in car for long periods of time - but rather in using it in cold weather...I've never seen anything that said detecting in cold weather would harm it - but wanted to see what some of our "long-timers" had to say about it.

Cold can be hard on the Liquid Crystal Display. Can cause a permanent rainbow effect. & its very hard on batteries.

Hm. Bigbill once posted a thread about freezing his batteries to extend their life. Why is the cold hard on the batteries?
