Default The beach is often diggable even when the rest of the ground is frozen.

Do you have any beaches nearby?

Dylan, you need to get a good digging tool...Check the sponsors out on this site or go to Lowes and get a tool you can use to dig small holes. Gator makes a good digging tool that is what I use...With the ground frozen you will have to dig hard or scrape the soil away..I did this up in Delaware when it was cold and frozen..It's a pain but untill the ground thaws out the soil will be hard...after that it's easy....Buster....

Hey there Dylan,I know your pain ! I got my first detector for Christmas many years ago.I nearly whent bonkers waitin for springtime ! The woods would be less likely to be frozen as solidly and you wouldent have to worry much about tearin up the grass so that would be a good place to start. If you can find an old foundation somewere that would be great, but if your in the woods around old foundations you need to be very carefull ! Most old homesites had open wells and they can be hidden by rotten boards etc. So be carefull and good luck !

Default clothesline

hey dylan try checking right up against the house...in the winter when the ground freezes there is a zone of unfrozen or at least softer ground around 6 inches away from the cement because of the heat the house radiates. might find some coin near the front and back entry ways. also if you have a clothes line in your yard go check that out. ive done ok checkin those out so far...good luck !
