I agree with this I am a newbie, with any machine theres a slight learning curve..With the Hi-End machines the learning curve is a bit more But can pay off in the long run if you get some Deep relics and coins.I just got the F75 It is very sensitive and goes deep and has fast recovery speeds, I am reading, studying and spending good quality time with the machine..The same goes for the Minelabs ect.. the more Gizmos the more patience is needed to understand what the machine is trying to tell show you..Lots of good sponsers here just give them a call..nice folks

If you can take your time detecting the site, that gives you the advantage to being thorough and slow. Yea, you will end up with a lot more trash than good stuff but that is the price we all pay to find good things!

Everyone here has great advice and I second them! Clean that place up in small sections... just to be on the safe side. Like J.C. said - GET OUT THERE!!

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

Sounds like you already have and excellant machine. Which White's do you have? If you're interested, and if it would be compatible with your machine, I have an 18" DD Excellarator coil for a DFX I'm think about selling.

Hey Macktrashtruck, in answer to your question.

As padmaster mentioned, which Whites detector are you using ?

Here's a method to my madness when hunting almost any site. I first use the XLT as it's a fast sweep detector capable of covering larger areas very quickly and is an outstanding detector. Will either use the 10"or 8" coils for coverage and where targets are more concentrated the 6" coil is used for better target separation. I rarely use high discrimination and rely on tone id in high density target areas. In low density target areas single tone response is fine. While using using the XLT i try to cleanout the bigger trash.

Once i feel the XLT did it's job the quicker responding 2 filter type detectors are used.My next preferred detector is the Whites M6 and primarily use the 6"x10" coil for depth and coverage and the smaller DD coils for target separation. I love using the M6 in areas with lots of modern trash due to the optional tone id and has an excellent ground balance circuit for tough ground conditions. This is where i try to clean out as much nuisance trash as i can. At very large parks and other public sites just pick out a promising area do the best you can but at smaller private sites clean it out thoroughly.

After the M6 and especially areas where decomposing iron is the main culprit the whites IDX pro is one of the best i've used so far although i do like the Fisher 1236x2 and Minelab Advantage. The Advantage goes very deep at most of my sites. Once i know a particular site i decide on a gameplan for that day and either dig it all, sift through the trash or just ignore the shallow targets and dig the softer tones or deeper targets on the depth meter just to mix it up a bit.

If you hunt sites where conditions are very consistant perhaps 1 or 2 complimentary detectors using various coil combinations may work very well, but as mentioned by others, you gotta get out and dig and learn what the detector is telling you and figure out how to defense adverse conditions. Sorry to be so long but i'm not the best at short and sweet answers HH Bill
