Default Need Advice on a detector as a B-Day present for my baby brother

My little brother, Morgan has been detecting on and off again since the 70's but hasn't hunted much in the last decade and we all know how much MD'ing technology has changed in that time. My issue is this, Morgan is basically a Dirtfisher and likes to work the parks but my success in the water has made him rethink things a bit. (amazing that he would listen to his older brother, isn't it) He moved out west a few years ago and now lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta so he'd also like to try his hand at gold prospecting.
What I'm looking for is a metal detector that will do well in the wet and on the dry as well as pick up small gold in either environment.
I'm leaning towards the Tesoro Tigershark as a compromise solution but to be honest I'm out of touch when it comes to Gold Prospecting and Dirtdigging. I'd like to keep the price of his present under $750.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers All,

BDA

The Tiger Shark is certainly great in the water but I find it lacking on dry land but maybe I haven't taken enough time with it there. JC

Hmm... is it possible he'll end up wanting to be completely submersible..? Or will he be doing *mostly* 'dirt fishing' and just try the underwater thing a couple of times...? These are hefty requirements for a single machine.... but alas, I know zero about Tesoro's...

Anyway... I'll do some diggin' around Kellyco and see what the popular opinion is on our end.

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

Thanks Ali, I'm looking forward to what the lads at Kellyco have to say about my tall order in a machine that does it all for under $750.

Cheers Hon,

BDA
