There are actually 11 steel and 15 other wheats plus 4 that were made in the 60's. These were all kept in a small piggy bank safe DH had as a kid. He had forgotten about them until I said something about detecting for old wheat pennies. He said there was some buried in a box in the closet. Well I just had to go look for them.

Its not the greatest but their a bit dirty. They have been in this piggy bank safe for a long time and its not air tight. I stuck a copper wheat penny in the mix so you could see the difference. Now the question is, do I clean them or leave them as they are?

Just so you know they are worth in fair shape .30 per each, Beale.

Thanks Beale,
I wasn't worried about the value. They are more sentimental to DH than anything else. I will put them in the plastic thingy's for him so they don't further deteriorate. Andi Beale, please find another penny!!!!!!!!!!!! |
