I can't believe I'm agreeing with Newt Gingrich

A pirate mate of mine in Hawaii sent this to me and I can't refute the logic. I certainly don't involve myself in American politics but this is a global situation and the truth of it is inescapable. When I think of the civil liberties that were so readily surrendered in the name of national security after 9/11 it makes my blood run cold to think of what would occur if things were taken to the next level. This is not just about America but about whether or not the world will be free or live under tyranny.

This article is taking forever to load on my end, but I appreciate your comments and I do agree with the whole "blood running cold" sensation. It is important that we remember *why* we started this country, why we put certain things into the constitution and left very specific things OUT.

I don't want to say anymore because opinions on this topic differ and I don't think any one person, entity or group has gotten it right just yet. I actually will cry about it if I think about it too much.... but then again, my handsome calls me a "delicate flower" so maybe I'm just sensitive. But I do weep at injustice in the world.

I'm gonna close this thread, not because I find it offensive, but because political views can become quite volatile! Especially during an election year. We need to try to avoid political threads (lots of trouble in the past), & focus on treasure hunting. I'll leave it to the Admin to reopen or delete as he sees fit.
