Default Just something to make someones day brighter

This made me stop and think and maybe it will brighten your day!

'Excuse me, are you Jesus?'

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE !!! He paused, took a deep breath, got in touch with his feelings, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned.

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

He was glad he did.

The 16-year-old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying,
tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one stopping and no one to care for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl, 'Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?' She nodded through her tears.. He continued on with, 'I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly.'

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him, 'Mister....' He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes. She continued, 'Are you Jesus?'

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul: 'Are you Jesus?' Do people mistake you for Jesus? That's our destiny, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace.

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would. Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church. It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you and me up on a hill called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged fruit.
Please share this. Sometimes we just take things for granted, when we really need to be sharing what we know...Thanks.

Have a great day!

Very nice Rob, it's so easy to be caught up in life and ignore someone that can use a little kindness.

It makes me so mad when I type out a long response and then when I post it it is gone. I will try again.
I like this read.

I have a brother who is MR (mentally retarded) and physically disabled. I work in the field also so I understand and really relate to this post. For 2 months my bro was in Physical Therapy for a bum hip. On Jan. 21st he had a complete hip replacement. We almost lost him. He aspirated when they pulled the tube out of his throat, and ended up with pneumonia, and during the surgery lost 2 pints of blood. He is now in a Nursing Home in Physical Therapy, and watching him making strides just wells my heart. Most nights he is in pain. He doesn't talk but can do sign language, enough to help him with his wantd and needs. One night my hubby came in, I was sitting on the bed doing a puzzle with my bro, and I caught my hubby staring at me. I am constantly talking and signing with Fred. Later on when I got home at 8pm my hubby says can we talk? So I sat down to talk. He says I was watching you tonite with Fred, you are a saint! I said why? Well he said, I could never do it. It takes a special person to deal with a mentally and physically disabled person. I have lived with this my whole life, thus why I work in the field. I make it my responsibility to help these people have a very good life. To help someone walk, to move a crippled hand, to learn and teach them communication, to help them eat, to make sure they are bathed, there hair is neat, and the list goes on is very rewarding. These are very special people, and I will take the extra mile to make sure they have everything they need to have a very respectful and a good life.

I haven't been here for awhile, but I have been with Fred everyday after work until 7 or 8 pm. I have helped a lot of the old people too while i am there. They help make my day. So thanx again for the read. I really understood this and it brought tears to my eyes. Some people don't understand the people that are either Physically or Mentally disabled, and it makes me sad to see people make fun of or to watch a person floundering. Sorry I was so long winded.

I missed you all!!

HaveFaith, you're a special person to do what you do for not just your brother, but others. Not everyone could.

My wife has the same gift as you do, after years of working in an office, decided to take a less stressful job driving paratransport (small bus that hauls the elderly and physically and mentally handicapped). She cared for her elderly aunt until she passed away, and now I see the same love and concern for her passengers she relates her day to me. She calls it her "play job" because she loves it.

God Bless you and all the caregivers, I just hope that if necessity dictates that I would be able to step up to the plate.

ER.. Thanks for posting That. Great Story and Reminder to look beyond ourselves and our own needs !
HaveFaith.. Bless You for taking Care of your Brother and others as You Do. Some Folks have the Skills and Desire to do These Things while others do not wich is OK BUT Everyone Should have some Compassion for those who are Challenged Physically or Mentally or Both. To at Least show some Kindness, Understanding and give someone less fortunate a sense of Dignity is not much to ask and can be Good Medicine all the Way Around ! Having and Keeping the Faith with You !
