Default maybe a treasure marker ???

Hi all
Just south of Brenda Az is a mountain that looks like a set of devil horns, directly to the right is a small flat top mountain with a hole completely through it , when the sun shines just right you can see the hole
The Spanish were in this country 400-500 years ago , do you suppose they may have made it as a marker to treasure or something ????
Anybody know anything about this area??
I just have this feeling that there is more to this than meets the eye.
Lets put our heads together and see if the TQ family can figure this out.
thanks for looking
george

Hey there 1911d. I was wondering if it could be part of an old native american community. I know that AZ has a lot of ancient hillside ruins where native americans lived. Possible?

It does look like it.
I have a book "Spanish Monuments and Trailmarkers to treasure in the United States" by CHarles A Kenworthy.
And your picture does look like trailmarkers as described in the book.

I need to go back and read again and I'll post later today what it says about yours. Or at least my best interpretation.
BUt I think it is worth going to that area and exploring and looking for more symbols.
I have a few more books on signs and their meanings would suggest buying a couple of the books.

Excellent work in identifying that.

You better get out there and check it out yourself before someone sneaks up there. Tinman you are very right on that one. The best way to find out about something is to go there yourself and see it with your own two eyes.

Keep in mind also, that where the spanish (and natives) left markers to identify treasure locations - they also left markers that identified traps and other nasty things to keep folks away from the treasure as well...I have a book somewhere that talks about this - and will see if I can find it...good luck!!

I'm from wi , on winter vacation in az . i spotted this yesterday while riding my atv back into the mountains to do some mding for gold.
the hole was originally natural i think, but was refined to make the sun shine thru for about 2 hours from about 10:00am till 12:00pm. there is no good way to get really close , you would need climbing gear, ropes etc.
i'll try and get some close up pic with a telephoto lens monday.
i can't get google earth to work on my pc. BUT i'm sure it would be interesting to see where a line thru the hole would end up on a map.
i'll take my gps with me on monday a try and get a location (as close as possible) and maybe someone that has google earth could look it over........
