Default Mmmmm.......coffee

Came home from work tonight and roasted some green costa rican coffee beans on the stove in my iron skillet, then proceeded to make a nice pot of the magic elixer.
Anyone else ever roast there own beans?
They are kindof hard to come by,I got a lb from the fellow who delivers our coffee supplies to my place of work,I casually mentioned wanting to try and roast my own beans,lo and behold, about a week later he dropped of a pound of green beans.I've been busy all week, but decided to give her a try. This evening.
I'm now sitting here sipping a nice hot cup. just like campbell's soup mmm, mmmm, goooooddd

Thumbs up Yup! Good Stuff

I use a popcorn popper occasionally. i should know better than using it indoors with the windows closed. The smoke, and husks really make a mess, but the coffee is great. I like the dark roasted Columbian bean espresso ground in a drip maker. I can get the beans locally, about a 10 minit drive. A pound lasts about a week, so I've been thinking about buying it in 5 pound bags. When I get it right it tastes pretty chocolatey. It's getting more consistent, the more I practice. Haven't tried the stove yet, but give me time.

Thanks
Leo

I'm not stuck on one brand...just so long as the coffee is strong enough for the spoon to stand up in the cup on it's own....

Default I haven't had fresh-roasted, Costa Rican Coffee since I visited there

The Princess and I were thinking of moving there but we decided against it. We Loved the People, the Countryside, the Ocean and especially the COFFEE. I've given up tobacco for a few years every few years, basically 2 years on and 2 years off the Tobac, BUT, there is no way I could give up my Java. I tried to quit once years ago, by day three I came into my site office and there were 6 Large Tim Horton's Coffees lined up on my desk all done up just the way I like'em. At that point my site foreman came in and asked me if I would please just drink one or two of them (he'd been elected to talk to me when all of my main guys brought me a coffee on the morning of day 3, they figured I wouldn't kill him). It suddenly occurred to me just how irritable and nasty I had become by Day 2 (even the Princess was having a hard time putting up with me), so I drank 4 of them [two had gotten cold already] and felt much better. My guys thanked me and I NEVER tried to give up coffe again.
Yeah, I LOVE My Coffee. Jamaican Mountain Roast is Excellent.

Cheers,

BDA
