Default An Okay Day

3 1/2 hours of detecting today. First I went to Ft. Lauderdale beach around the Beach Place and eventhough a lot of action there for some reason I never found too much just some clad. Then I went a bit up my area to that beach that not too many people therebut the sea has strange currents and puddles everywhere like I told BDA and others but today there were like little streams and currents and sandbars I mean weird but it was cool. It was like the normal ocean but on the shore there were like I said sandbars and streams. Oh and I forgot to mention tons of shells. I think it is a good place to detect because I do not know too much about the ocean yet but common sense tells me that if there is a little current going somewhere to follow it. Well this current was going South to North and the water was about 1 to 2 feet deep and not too rough so I followed it and allong the way found some clad and then a ring. I'm not sure if the ring is silver but I do not think it is. I am happy because this is my first ring that I find inside the water. Remember I have a whites dfx so my coil goes into the water but I cannot go all the way in because I might ruin my unit. Even if it is silver I do not think it is worth much. It says something inside the ring kind of blurred. Says something like (made in hong kong) but I only see something that resembles kong. I took a bit of a risk today going into the water because I did not have a plastic bag to put around the box of the unit but it paid off. I have a bit more experience and will go out there again on Monday and this time I will really concentrate detecting on the water this time with a bag around the box. Going to try to post a picture.

Default A Ring is a Ring, Mate!

A Silver Ring is a Find, anyway you slice it, WTG!
Remember that a plastic bag will give some protection from small splashes but that darn salt water is insidious and will do it's best to wreck your DFX. Mother Ocean can be very jealous when it comes to giving up her treasures and she just loves to eat detectors.
It would be nice to see a pic.

Cheers,

BDA

I see what you mean about the benchmark stamp being a little blurry. Does your digital camera have a macro setting for close ups? It usually looks like a flower insignia. Switch to macro and take the picture from about 12 inches away on a 45 degree angle, leave the benchmark showing and that way we can help you figure out what you've got.

Cheers,

BDA

Congrats on the Ring SmartFox !
Ya Might wanna wrap your control box with press & seal before ya put the plastic bag on. It will seal better and give ya a little more Protection. Just a Thought.
Continued Luck in your hunts.
