Default Best way to bag the box

I have a Garrett 150 (could not afford the 250 at the time). Well I plan on doing a lot of beach detecting this season and wanted to know how to protect my MD. I will be moving to a place that will be about a mile from the beach where I found my $160 watch this past year. Well I would like to go into the water a little bit. But since I do not have the money for a new detector I need to make sure to do everything I can to protect this one. I only plan on going in as far as about half way up the metal detector poll. But would still like to add something on the box to protect it. So what should I wrap it in. I know many people say they tie a bag around it and I am fine with that. But I want to be sure I can still see the LCD so I know how far down to dig. So any information you could give would be wonderful

I know of some people that used a clear zip lock bag, wrapped it then taped it up at the bottom.

i know you can buy covers specially made for the detector for just over 10 dollars or you can make your own with a bag like others have said.

The bag is a good way to protect it from ocean spray but if a wave sneeks up on ya the detector will be history I wouldnt take it out that deep...hunt the low tide in a couple inches of water...Also remember not to raise the coil up over the control box...water can run down inside the shaft and get into the box.

Happy huntin

Thanks for the tips. Here in Minnesota I do not really need to worry about spray or any big waves since everything is fresh water.
