My oldest american coin
Well going through my change today gave me the oldest American coin I have so far. No big deal since it is only a 1942 nickel. But still nice to have an old one. My oldest coin that I have is a 1939 Canadian penny, found in change as well.

Congratulations on the change! Hope that nickel has a "P" or "S" mint mark, if so it's 56% silver!

56% copper , 35% silver and 9% manganese 42 has both normal alloy and war time alloy coins , the ones with the large mint mark above the dome are war time alloy .
