At about 15 I had thought long and hard about getting certified. Butr just never did it. I think it is for the best. I think I would have killed myself sooner or latter. Congrats to you!

That is so cool!! Shawn I know it was a great time. The home I grew up in was in an area that had fighter jets coming over it. As a child I use to pretend I was in one of them. Thanks for your story, brought back a good one for me, Beale.

A 'Discovery Flight' at your local regional airport is some of the best money you'll ever spend, for under $100 they'll take you up in a light aircraft, give you basic instruction and let you fly the plane. You get about an hour in the air, can take aerial photos of your house and just have a blast. The sense of freedom is amazing and looking down at cars the size of ants helps put your day to day problems into perspective. I go up every couple of years, it helps me to stay real.

Highly Recommended,

BDA

You can do the same thing in an ultralight but it's not for the faint of heart.

When I was a flight nurse on the helocopter, the pilot would let us hold the stick from time to time. Nothing like fixed wing controls for sure. Very sensitive, any movement of the stick at all causes drastic changes in direction!! Was a very cool gig for a couple years though.

My wife FINALLY gave me a skydiving package for my birthday a few years back...I did a tandem jump with an instructor from 15,000 ft. The result is a freefall for about one minute and then about 5 minutes of "floating"...it is SUCH a cool experience...in freefall you're falling at about 120 MPH...I DO have some pics of my jump - and I'll post them for you when I get back home later this week....I HIGHLY recommend a tandem jump the first time out....that way you get to enjoy the whole trip without spending all your time trying to remember what they told you in the ground school portion of the event...
