Default What a GREAT day!

I apologize for this being a little off-topic...but I had the BEST day today - and just wanted to share...

For the last several years, I've been on and off with flying lessons...(and THIS year I WILL certify!)...but today I had the chance to fly a 1947 Ercoupe for two solid hours, here in Butte, Montana. The Ercoupe sort of looks like a minature C-119 - for those of you who will recall WWII and Korean-era aircraft...it is a dream to fly! I did 6 take-offs and landings...practiced a few turning maneuvers and buzzed a herd of elk at about 100 feet off the ground....what a trip! The sky was a clear, AMAZING blue...no wind...just perfect....we even flew with the canopy open for a while...just an amazing day!

Sorry if I'm rattling-on - but today was just the sort of "recharge" day I've needed for a while....now I'm ready to get back down to business!

Thanks for letting me blather!
Shawn

That sounds awesome. Once you get your license, you will need to take all of us on a joy ride!

Very cool Shawn, sounds like a great time on a beautiful day, glad you were able to do that, buzzing the elk at 100' would be especially neat.

Once you certify, you'll be able to fly out to each TQ members area to hunt with us (all 4000 of us), let me know when and I'll be waiting at the airport. You may also consider changing your username like prizm-pal, maybe to "FLYGUY" or "SKYGUY"

I've always thought about learning to fly, had to get an xray today for my physical and there was a magazine about kit built planes that I read. That just piqued my interest again.

I'm not familiar with that plane so I googled it and found this video of a Quadriplegic flying a 1947 Ercoupe it includes the take-off and landing. Cool plane, I like the twin tail fins.

Haven't told the wife, yet....but I've got my eye on a nice little Cessna (my brother owns it) and since he wants to sell it to buy into another newer plane with a group of his friends...I might just talk him into making me a deal I can't refuse....we'll see...however, if I DO buy it - I might have to use it to fly around and visit TQ friends for a place to stay!!

Default I think you'd look pretty good in this ride.

190 MPH Cruise, 1400 Range, Seats 4 Adults, Fully Amphibious so any place that's wet is a landing strip or drop the gear and use the airport. A very kewl plane and my personal favorite. I love flying but got sidetracked and never got on with getting my pilot's license. Speaking of which, didn't you mean you buzzed the elk at 500? ft.
Some pics to drewl over, below.
Glad you got a serious rush today!

Cheers Mate,

BDA
