Default statistics where an item will end up?

Let's suppose that I am in about waist deep water about 20-30 feet inside the water and I lose my ring or chain then the tide goes to it's lowest where would I most likely find that ring and about how deep of water or would I find it in the wet sand? I know this is probably not the easiest question but wanted to have an idea. Thanks.

I truly cannot answer your Question but lets hope it will end up under my coil, when I hit the beach.

Default okay

just trying to come up with some topics to talk about. I know this one is a tuff one because I suppose it has to do with currents and things like that. I have a whites dfx and I wanted to know approximately where the items would most likely go to? I would probably take my dfx about 1 to 2 feet deep if the water is calm.

It is an interesting topic! I would guess a heavier piece would fall down about the place that you lost it if the current wasn't real strong, and from there it would sink into the soft sand pretty quickly. I don't know if it would come much closer to shore without a good storm or heavy seas.

Just guessing .

I think storms and the tide will drag it back and away from where you would have dropped it.. BDA might be the one to answer this one. Mine is just a guess..Buster....

Buster, you must be psychic. I've been thinking to myself since this post came up, 'What a great idea for a newsletter article.' There's no way to do the question justice in less than 500 words and you could easily spend a few 1000 words on the topic and still leave out information. Things got a little crazy around here today, so crazy that I had to cancel my hunt this afternoon, but I think I can put something together on this provided people don't mind waiting for a proper answer.

Cheers,

BDA

You could do a field test if you are going to be at the beach for the day and you are allowed to fish there....take you're trout fishing pole with you use six lb test line tie a steel washer on end drop in water at 3 feet ..leave bail open so no drag on object wait till tide goes out then follow string...will give an idea!
