Default Question to all? Kinda a silly question.

Well I have been sitting here tonight thinking, (a dangerous subject). I am still excited from finding those 2 silver Rosies. A normal hunt for me normally includes a fair amount of clad, maybe something unique, or different, and of corse trash.

Here is my question. Do most of ya'll prefer a small amount of good finds? I guess what I mean is if you came home with say $3-5 bucks in clad it is cool and fun. Heck it helps with the batts and gas. Or would you rather find less clad and more unique or keepers?

I like both but seeing a ring, or an old compact, heck a matchbox to me is so cool.

So less clad vs unique/keepers? My answer and I am sure most is the unique/keepers.

In the end the hunt is the fun. But I really like a good day, Beale.

I am happy with every find,Clad is good, but when I find something like a ring or something I can put in the display case, I get a feeling I cannot discribe, all part of of the thrill of detecting. When someone ask me about my best find, I have a list a mile long.

Good question beale. I think to me its about what you might find more than the find. Kinda like when I was a kid and my mom bought me a box of cracker jack. The carmel popcorn and nuts was great but hmmm, what will I find at the bottom of that box!!

I would much rather find one old coin or relic that comes after researching and finding a remote or no longer existant site than 50 clad coins. Now , digging clad is nothing shoddy at all. Put's more change in your pocket and helps keep the hunt interesting. But the old good finds just get my heart pumping.

It's like going to the store and picking up a turkey in the frozen food section vs setting up, calling a very smart and weary turkey within range and closing the deal with a well placed shot to fill the dinner plate for thanksgiving. Does that make sence?

Default My out look on it

If yer not diggin clad and pull tabs yer not trying....

Every time i leave the house to hunt i expect to dig lots of trash. that makes finding clad so much better and seein silver in the hole really makes yer day. a lil bit of gold will make giddy as a school girl.

so i reckon my answer to yer question is... As long as i am huntin I will take whatever the tones give up

I would like to find keepers every time out, but I know I have to pay my dues, so to speak, to get the good stuff

Default Gold makes a hunt and silver saves the hunt

To call a hunt really successful I've got to see gold in the scoop. Silver will salvage an otherwise unsuccessful hunt. Platinum is a terrific hunt. That said, if I find a really kewl relic like a cannonball or a Queen Victoria silver jubilee medallion those are stellar hunts in my mind. Whether or not I find clad is incidental but it doesn't hurt the detector budget either.

Cheers,

BDA

Well.. I would have to say it all depends on where I am hunting or what I am looking for. When I am on the beach, I expect to find a ring and that's not saying I will find one but I am always expecting. If I don't find one (gold or silver) I feel like my hunt wasn't quite successful, no matter how much clad I find. Now at a park or school... I expect to find a good amount of clad. If I find less than 4.00 I feel like it wasn't as successful. A ring is nice from the schools or parks (have found them) but I expect clad. If I'm on an old site, I expect to find a piece of silver, if I don't, it's not successful. We all measure success on different levels. So,,,, I guess that's just my own personal expectations of myself and my Ace 250. Good question!

Default good question

well today for me i was digging every tone and came up mostly with junk(pull tabs, etc.) so whenever i do get the rare clad i am happy as heck. but those finds that are rare or hard to discern what they are i love so much. like the token i found today...took me a few hours to get it cleaned enough to tell what some of the lettering said. this was a gift from the ground that kept on giving until its identity was known and will keep giving due to the neat experience of popping that sucker out of the ground... i was so excited the whole time trying to figure out what it was. i wasnt even dissapointed that much at all when it turned out not to be a spanish gold coin, which is what my wild imagination was hoping it was. lol so to answer your question ...even at this early place in my md'ing venture (where beggars can't be choosers) i'd have to say the rare finds are the best to me.

Clad is ok but I try to avoud it when possible Clad just doesent do it for me.I hunted a park with a frend this summer that was loaded with clad.I found about 30 bucks worth in a couple of hunts witch is all good and fine but there's nothing like seeing that silver and gold in the hole or digging an old button or relic that has been buried for hundreds of years. The history of the find is what really get's me going.I hunt some colonial sites were even the "trash" is cool !
