OMG where do I start. Well you knew the plan cause I mentioned it before. Here are the results without too much detail. $2.58 in clad total with $1.75 in quarters and the rest just dimes, nickels, and pennies. My dad metal detecting. That is a site. I took a picture of him with the gear and that is hillarious. He found about 50 cents after 1.5 hours of detecting. I showed him a few techniques but it takes time. He did pretty good for the 2nd time ever doing it. I then starterd to detect and after 5 minutes of him giving me the detector I found a very weird coin that is not even in the red book. It looks like a gold coin but I doubted. What seems to be bad news is that on one side of the coin it says copy and looking at the red book I saw another coin that looked similar but not the same and also had that copy and it said that it was not worth much. When I showed my dad what I found he was in total shock. No matter whether it is a great valuable coin or just some chump coin I realize that I love metal detecting and the hunt. This was honestly one of the best metal detecting days ever till this point cause my dad and I had a blast at the beach. I took a picture of the coin but it has so much little pics in it that not sure if you guys will see it too clearly but here it goes. Pappy, BDA and others let me know what this coin is? If not let me know and I will take better pics of coin. It was a bit dark when I took them and if I take in day the coin might show up better. Thanks in advance like always. Right now having a few Vodka shots at home and tomorrow I will stay at my dad's and will try to detect a bit but for most the time will hang with the old man. Tomorrow we will watch some of my dad's tv recordings Twilight Zones old reruns and things that he has recorded and listen to some Howard Stern reruns and just chill at his South Beach appartment then later that night we well get together and shoot some pool, have a few brews, and maybe if he still has some gas get a bit of the club nightlife. That's the plan.

They use them at some of the resorts for kiddies, pirate treasure hunts or as resort money for special events like 'Pirate Night'. A mate of mine found one while I was teaching him surf pirating on his trip to Bermuda. A bit of a nitro but a fun find just the same.
Sounds like you're having a blast with the old man, what a great trip you're having. The memories will never die! Cheers, BDA ![]() |

Congrats on the hunt with your dad! It sounds like you both had a good time together. Enjoy the time spent, and have fun, Beale.

I knew it was too good to be true. It was a blast. There were a lot of targets on the wet sand. Most the coins were at the wet sand. I found that coin on the wet sand too and at first site it really looked like a real rare coin but when I saw that copy that was the red flag. I might not have too much time to detect today but am planning a Sunday hunt. Not sure if I will try another location or just hit South Beach again I might try a bit north since I live in Pompano and I might get free or reduced parking. Oh BTW I did get lucky and got free parking 2 blocks from the beach because the meter was torn off so it was definitely a great day.
