Default Coil in water

I'm new to metal detecting, and found that I do want to detect in shallow water. I was wondering if I cover the coil connector in wax (to seal it) could I dip my coil in shallow water. Or is this a horribly dumb thing to even think of. Let me know, I can take it :)

DD, what machine are you using? Most coils are submersible.

Duig dan...I am dummer than a bag full of noodles... but most detectors coil can get wet...be sure after coil is in water you don't lift up letting water run into control box... not good...others here will help you better...welcome to tg

No need for the wax, unless you have a detector coil that can't be submerged, in which case, I wouldn't attempt it even with wax.
