Default Posting the "junk"

I have noticed on a lot of the new detectorists posts they are a bit bummed at not finding the mother load at first swing. Don't they realize that ANY find is a good day. Heck I'm happy if I only find 1 pull tab. Anything after that is a bonus. I didn't get a detector to get instantly rich and famous. I got it to get me outside in the fresh air and get a little exercise. I know a lot post only their "good" or "interesting" finds but that's a disservice to the new folks. Does everyone only find good stuff with no trash? Do you always find lots of coins or jewelry only? I don't think so. So far I have found several iron thingys, enough pull tabs and cans to sink an aircraft carrier, enough wire to string a towns electrical power, and 37 cents in clad. I am extremely happy to have found what I have. Lets tell the WHOLE story and leave the good parts as the bonus as this is a learning experience for all.

I used to post the whole nut as well as the good stuff but I've stopped because the ratios here are a good deal diffferent than they are in the U.S. Some days are good and some are bloody awful but I don't post the bad hunts very often. The goal is to find the good stuff, fresh air and exercise is what happens during that process.

Cheers,

BDA
I think I found 53 cents in a short hunt today, looking for relics. The only interesting bit was a brass nail and a Canadian penny.

I have found my share of good stuff and also a lot of trash...I think one time at the beach I had pulled around 35 or so Bottle caps and maybe 18 pull tabs along with some clad...You find the trash, you find the coins....Sometimes you find a lot and sometimes not...I have found silver coins up in Delaware, but none down here in Florida...It's still a good hobby and I will continue to dig...Every one digs up some kind of trash...That's part of the game... It's all good and you still get out...there's nothing better..the coins will come....Buster...

I can honestly say the Lord has been good to me this year. I usually leave with at least a wheaty or what I consider an old relic. But there have been plenty of days I was skunked or had nothing but junk. I try not to leave a site without some sort of keeper. I know it's has to be there, so I keep looking until I find it.

I've also kept pretty much everything I've ever found (not pull tabs or plain ol trash)...it's just that I enjoy going back and looking at the junk as well as the good stuff...AND I'm guilty of only talking about the good finds and posting nearly no pics...I'll try to do better this year!

I guess it depends on your idea of "Junk"! I think of junk as pulltabs, cans, foil or whatever.. I think of objects that some people might call "junk" as treasure, unique within context... I would love to see peoples "junk" as well as their treasure... great idea!
