Question advice on detector

question from a newbee.i have a bounty hunter detector now, does the disk make a difference?ther are solid disk like mine, and then there is the ones that are open.what kind should i be looking for.cant be very expensive but reliable for some one just starting,that could use it for a few years.price range 200-300 dollars.. thanks in advance,,

Hey Digging I am not very familar with the BH line. Different companies do it different. Basically their are 2 main types of coils. DD and Concentric. The DD colis tend to get better depth they send the signal down in a straight line. This also means that the amount of ground they cover per sweep is less.

Concentric coils may not go as deep on average. They cover more ground per sweep because the signal is more spread out. More like a cone shape inverted going into the ground.
