My mother in law has a acre lot in town and she has chickens. We have chickens too but we live out in the country. They are a little loud sometimes and if you clean out there pen every so often the dont smell to bad.

a few hens wont be to loud but they will smell. for best eggs ya will need a rooster. you can buy crack corn from local feed store.

Roosters are noisy. at sunrise, at sunset, and any time they are helpin the hens make better eggs.

We always had chickens growin up. i even had a BIG Rhodr Island Red rooster i had so uncleverly name FOGHORN... he lost his mind after eatin a can snuff and became very mean. GAME COCK mean. but he was the best alarm clock you could ever want. My neighbors hated him

Depends...
Do you have a strick HOA?
Chickens are very loud, messy, and will be very hard to hide.
+ Your city could fine you for breaking zoning laws...Check your area zoning laws and if it is not restricted , than go for it, but If you have have close neighbors they are not gonna be happy.

I have a friend that raises the little silkies,I call them Tina Turner Chickens, big poofy hair on top of their head and red too, lol. I never knew anything about chickens but thought they were cute. I agreed to take a few in my van and transport them for her. Word of caution they do not travel well, loud and escaped and pooped all over my van. I had to drive with my head out the window gagging. They probably arent as loud out of doors or hopefully as stinky . Good Luck.

They can be noisy and smelly..............If you want to annoy the neighbours get a cockerell........they won't be late for work again.
