Default where can I get a gram scale GOT 2 NICE 14K ITALY GOLD CHAINS

To weigh my gold. Planning on selling these 2 chains. The one I found in school and the other I bought a while back but I do not really wear them. Also I want to make a few bucks and buy some extra accessories for my detector. I would rather make the money off some finds than to have to put my own money. I would think with the price of gold and these 2 chains saying Italy 14 k I could get some decent monet for them. Here they are. Oh the chain I found has a cross of jesus but it is not labled so am not sure if it is gold or not. You guys tell me. Also just by looking at them can you give me a ballpark figure on what I should get for them? thanks in advance. here they are. I know it's a couple of questions. If you need to post a long response that is okay. Just want to get really good at all this gold stuff. thanks.

Man, those chains look so nice and heavy! Perhaps a bathroom scale would work (kidding of course). Nice finds smartfox, Ebay sells cheap digital scales for mailing and such. I think some go by 10ths of a gram. I have seen them at Office Max/Depot too. best, Stephen

Default wow!

thanks guys. Would like to get a scale and get an idea myself of how much it is worth then take it to a pawn or jewler and sell it for a couple dollars cheaper (because everyone needs a bit of profit) but I do not want to get raked. I rather do it in person than to take it to a online melting place. I might get into thosebut am a bit skeptical What do you think? If I ever get one of those scales I need to keep it out of the car or the cops might think i'm a drug dealer. Is there a way to clean those chains nicer? I washed then with a bit of soap and hot water then I dried them. Think they turned out pretty good. Do not think the cross is real gold. What do you think?

Default actually

the one I found at my school at a locker and no one claimed it. These kids know nothing about the gold value. The other one I bought a while back and my son is wearing it now. I told him to enjot it while he could as I will sell it soon.

You can get scales many places, Kellyco for one and there's alot on eBay.

Here's some formulas that may help:

* 18K = .750 fine gold - to get the cost of 18K: multiply the cost per oz of fine gold by .750

* 14K = .5833 fine gold - to get the cost of 14K: multiply the cost per oz of fine gold by .5833

* 10K = .4166 fine gold - to get the cost of 10K: multiply the cost of fine gold per oz by .4166
