I bought my first detector last week. I am completely inexperienced. But I asked a similar question to the guy at Kellyco. If your deciding between a DFX or MXT, and are going to use it mainly for beach, get the DFX. KellyCo told me the DFX will still find gold, but not like a more dedicated machine made for finding gold. The DFX will not find the smaller "flakes" that a dedicated machine will. When you want to really prospect, get a dedicated machine and really prospect. Don't go halfway. Thats my inexperienced opinion.
Give KellyCo or another dealer a call. Ask them. Riff |

I've owned White's machines for YEARS, starting back when Sears sold them. I went "Whiteless" for 5 years, and recently bought an MXT. The machine is super user-friendly, and does a great job. I guess whichever one you want will be fine, but I like the MXT. My problem is ME, not the machine. I'm playing out!

IMHO I would get the MXT. I dunno I have read about the DFX being pretty complex? I know you said you do not mind learning it. If you ares spending time trying to learn, you could be hunting?
It sounds as the $$ difference is not a problem. Good luck either way. They both are fantastic machines, Beale.
