Frozen In? Can't Hunt Because of the Snow? TRY THIS!

A water pirate in the great white north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (provincial capital and further north than Moscow) just posted his loot from the winter. Almost $100 in clad, 4 rings, a chain and a bracelet.
How does John doe it? Mainly he works the sledding hills and outdoor skating rinks. Gloves come on and off a lot, sometimes rings come off with the gloves. Sledding hills have more than their fair share of wipe outs and jewellery and clad goes flying.
With the spring melt coming soon, these tickets will soon be surface finds. Best to get out there and find them with the detector before somebody else eyeballs them.
With the weather starting to warm up now would be the time to get an early start on the season and knock the cobwebs off your detector. Digging snow is apparently a lot like digging sand, beach hunters.

I've thought of that before but swingin a coil in the snow is to much like swingin a shovel in the snow I refuse to do so,I mean why move something out of your way thats just going to melt in a month or two anyhow !

seriously though I've thought of cheaking the water of some of the ponds that folk's skate on after the melt.I dove my family's pond a few years ago and found alot of cool stuff including my Grandfathers fishing net an old newspaper printing plate and some old bottles,but I havent detected it yet.

That sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately I live in South Florida and the only thing that freezes here are the freezers in our refrigerators.

The sledding hills are packed down snow so it's more like beach hunting just snow instead of sand. John says most of his finds are in the hardpacked snow, he just scoops them out before the snow melts and somebody else eyeballs the find. On a nice sunny day without a lot of wind it sounds like not a bad hunt, even for a surf pirate like John.
