Default headphones

this is probably old but which are better? big shell phones that are padded and cover the whole ear or the little walkman type? i used to use the big ones but they hurt after a while. but... i also couldn't hear the crumb crunchers talking.

I wear the full cover style. I actually prefer them over the other type? I have yet to try smaller kind with my metal detector, Beale.

If your in a heavy traffic area with lots of people I would suggest the full cover cup pair. If its a very quiet place im sure you could do with the small ear bud type. up to you! enjoy

Full cup! Especially if your a bit hard of hearing like me. There's been allot of talk about the small walkman type to the ear bud type. The smaller the speaker the more tones you'll miss, weather because of white noise in the background or because the smaller set is just too miss matched and doesn't transmit the tone.
Now if your hunting in an area where you really should hear what's going on around you, and maybe be buddy hunting, taking the risk of missing targets may not be such a bad idea.

If you want a real shocker find a buddy or dealer that'll let you listen to different head phones on your detector and scan a few items, it'll really shock you how different they can sound. Really makes you understand the phrase clean tone and dirty tone.

Default headphones

I like the full covers so you cant hear the guy yelling "Hey you, get out of there". I actually use both, depending on how hot it is. Both seem to serve purpose. Good luck.

I use the full cups also. I would like to use smaller ones at the beach but with the surf noise the full cups are the best choice for me even though they're hot.
