Default Look for old time spring houses

Hello,

When out in wooded area be on the look out for them Springs!

Alot went on around them and if you can find one it may reward you with many great finds!

In the early days the Indians and Colonials sought the springs out. They were vital for their survival. They were used for drinking, crop irrigation, animal drinking water and for cooking. The mountain above me has many famous spring along historic rt 40, with many early presidents drinking from them including George himself.

Every Farm almost had to have a Spring.

I am lucky enough to have a nice spring located on my property. My 6 year old son and I went down to look it over this morning. Were making plans to fix it up this summer. I see where some old timer really put some work into it so we plan to really make it a nice spring house. We have snapped a few pictures of the spring for you, When we fix it up I will show you all the completed project.

So if you locate a spring, be sure to detect all around it. Places like this are not recognized as being productive but believe me they are and your chances of finding a really old coin are good.

My neighbor has one of the nicest spring houses I have ever seen. It has never ran dry. His garden is located right by the spring and he has found many Indian artifacts. I plan to detect that area this spring!

If any of you know of any springs Please post pictures, We'd love to see them.

Good luck,
