Default Farm Dogs

One of my favorite places to hunt is a farm on which the owners have about 20 dogs. Some are friendly, some are not, but none of them bite. The first time I ever detected there, I was a little worried, because these dogs were all instigated by one particular dog, to "charge" me. I'd be out in the field digging relics, and all of a sudden I'd have the whole gang zeroing in on me, barking and showing teeth. I started taking Milk Bone dog treats with me when I went, and made friends eventually. One particular day, I was out there with a Minelab Explorer, and noticed that whenever I got a signal, the dogs would come charging. I thought that was odd. After about an hour of this, I realized that my headphone jack was "messing up", and the sounds were coming out of the speaker, as well as the headphones. To those of you that are familiar with the crazy sounds of an Explorer, you can understand. Nothing against Minelab, but I don't have that machine any more. The dogs don't bother me any more, either.

Them dog's were probably thinkin the alian's had landed when they heard that minelab going off for sure ! You should try hunting with a minelab and two ace 250's sounding off in the background sometime, kinda like alian vs CP30 !

Yeah, I guess some of the Explorer's whining tones can bother the dogs ears .

Now I know why Suzy, my Golden Retriever, looks at me like I'm crazy when I'm detecting sometimes.
