Default 1943 Steel Pennies

If you'll recall, I mentioned that I purchased a set of 1943 steel pennies while on a tour of Pearl Harbor last week. I scanned these instead of a photo - so I hope you can see them to appreciate what they looked like when they were minted in 1943...they are truly beautiful. I also scanned a souvenir patch of the Pacific Aviation Museum at Ford Island...I highly recommend a visit if you're ever in the area...

Each coin is from a different mint: P= Philadelphia D=Denver S=San Francisco...the "P" is a bit misleading - as there is no P mint mark on the coin - Philadelphia did not stamp a mintmark on coins until later.

EPC Guy...Now if only I could find those in one of my md'ing serches....Im sure soon enough I will. Just a week or so ago, I was given one by two separate friends...good guys both of them. Anyway, neither one had a mint code, and both were a bit crusty but boy if those coins could speak.....

Yeah - they look a bit different after having been in circulation for over 60 years...if you see the guy again - you may want to get a couple for the historic significance - if for nothing else...HH!

Very nice Shawn! I really like those, the patch is cool also. Maybe one of these days I will get there, Beale.
