I have a Garmin Etrex, it was hard at first to learn how use it even though it is a basic model. The only advice i can give you is to read the book over a few times, then practice using the features in the book while taking a walk.

Default Gps

I have a Garmin 176C that is kinda of a oversize handheld that I use on my boat and in the car. The best information I have gotten, is from the manual and most important their website. You need to sign up for the updates, etc. I also printed out an extra manual and read it at lunch time at work, etc. The best way to learn it probably just start using as much as possible and you will have no choice but to pick it up. What a great toy they are. I am in Japan right now and have not been in a car yet that doesnt have one in it. In about 2 to 3 years it will be the same way. Here you can put in the phone number to a restaraunt, etc and it tells you how to get there, it`s amazing how fast things are going.
