In the swamp you'll see the bark missing on trees that was old trails for trappers. usually done with a hatchet, a single mark would be the trail and a double would be where they had a trap. (In south Louisiana)

In my area they are petroglyphs, rock art left by the Native American population.. In your area you may want to do some research on Knights of the Golden Circle..

Hey Bob
Thats exactly what I am researching. I have found some unusual carvings and markings in the woods here . With the research I have been doing I am learning these might be found all over the world but largely in the U. S.

I read that some might be directions to a hidden cache...like arrows or bent trees.

Default The pictures

I haven't taken pictures of the markings yet. I have just been in the area where I have noticed a few strange cuts on trees. Then got to reading about them and then doing a lot of research about it then coming to realize that it might be more than just strange markings but a system of some sort. I guess I should go back to the area and take some pictures for my own use and do a little more looking
