Greetings....currently Have An Xlt Spectrum And Have Used This Machine For 10 Years And Have Learned About Everything There Is With It And Have Enjoyed It Very Much And Am Looking To Buy A New Machine And Use It As A Backup. Wanted: Former Xlt Users Who Have Bought The Dfx, Explorer Se Or Fisher F/75 And Your Opinions Compared To The Xlt. Any Significant Changes In Depth, Id Accurancy, Pinpointing, Recovery Speed, Sweep, More And Better Deeper Finds In Worked Out Areas, Ease Of Use, General Overall Satisfaction With The Dfx, Se Or F/75 Compared With The Xlt? Im Just Not Sure If There Will Be Any Real Oh Wow!!! Signifcant Differance From The Old Xlt To Anyone Of The Newer Machines. Any Help From You Former Xlt Users Would Be Much Appreciated. Thanks, Mitch

i used the xlt for over 2 years and switched to a minelab xs. the xs was a heavy machine and hard to get used to.I then got a dfx ( 2 years ago ) and although ive found some good finds with it ,i feel the xlt was and still is the best machine of the lot.

I've used an XLT for about 4 years and just bought an F75. It's deeper, it ID's deeper, and I can swing it as fast or as slow as I want. Pinpointing is good, but not as easy as the XLT since the F75 has a double-D coil. (I've got a 6" concentric on order, and I suspect that with that coil the F75 will pinpoint just as well as the XLT -- we'll see.) So far I've used the F75 about 3 hours in my own backyard which I've hunted heavily with the XLT and a Prizm IV. I'm getting lots of coins in the 6 to 9" range that the other machines missed. There is definitely a steep learning curve in going from the XLT to the F75. If you get the 75 make sure you visit this site -- you'll find plenty of info that's not covered in the owner's manual.
Good luck, Mark |
