Default Strange encounters while Metal Detecting

We had a post at "Friendly Mding" that I always loved to visit and it was about strange encounters while metal detecting. So I will start.... About 4 months ago I was detecting at a old home site out in the middle of nowhere when I was approched by a woman asking what I was doing. She I guess had been walking up the dirt road and I didnt notice her approching me so when she got close to me she YELLED,"What are you doing you KKK member!" Well I had my head phones on and immeditely yanked them off and just looked at her. I didnt know if I should run or just talk to her so, I backed up and started telling her what I was doing. I first told her I had premission to be on the property and I was just looking for old coins. Well she started gritting her teeth at me and asked what part of the "KLAN" I was from and I told her I didnt know of any anything like that. She then told me the klu klux klan had been trying to kill her for 25 years and she knew I was the one sent because I had a death ray machine. Now by this time I am about to pee on myself, and I am trying my best not to laugh but I know its coming, then she told me I was the one burning holes in her undergarmets up the dirt road. She told me I must not be to accurate with my death ray machine because I kept missing her, Well I tried to assure her that I wouldnt ever do anything like that to no one, then she busts out what she called a monkey foot, and started putting a hex on me, needless to say I got my detector and run to the truck. I drove down the road and stopped at the next house and asked If anyone knew her and they said they did, I told them what happened and they couldnt believe it. They said she just walked up the roads everyday and never said a word to anyone. Now I am not one to make fun of people with mental disorders, but if I would have been on camera I am sure I could have won some funny video contest,LOL Thats the only time detecting I have been very scared or surprised.

That is just to wild! It really does make you wonder though. Why you and your death ray? Oh man I probably would have been laughing at her. You did good not to, Beale.

That's a wild experience, alabamaslim. I'm glad that death ray machines are more powerful than a monkee foot hex.

I had strange thing happen related to detecting. My dear mother in law actually bought me my detector for my birthday, many years ago. She lived several states away from us at the time.

Anyway, soon after I got it, a Civil War site opened up close by, due to development. One day I went and hunted this site, and found a Union officer's button, with most of the gilt still intact (yes, the happy dance was done big time).

Right after I got home with my prize, Mom calls, and asked my wife if I had found some kind of gold button (!). She said that she had had the clearest dream the night before, seeing me digging in the mud and finding a shiny gold button.

Really blew all of our minds; her description of her dream matched exactly in details where I was, what I was wearing and the find itself. Can't explain it at all; it was just one of those cool things that happens sometimes.

If you could burn holes in the ground with your death ray machine you wouldn't have to dig.

What a post slim......supper funny!....I think some of her cheese done slid off her cracker. It is sad when a person has to escape from reality in order to cope with lifes' issues.......You think you were afraid....imagine what she went through...with that being said, I would have been looking for a quick exit myself.....I don't believe you could have handled any better.....good job!....Great post.....!
