Default Do you remember?

Do you remember your first good find?

I do mine,,, it was an early spring day while beach hunting with a couple of friends, I had only been metal detecting a few months and was a real noob at it. They both had a Sov. GT with big WOT coils and I was using my Ace 250. We had hunted for a couple of hours and they were both killing me on clad count. I was just above the high tide line when I got a solid nickel tone....yea target ID hu?...I located the target, stuck my little hand scoop in the sand and shook the sand out to be greeted by a very yellow and clear sparkle. When I reopened my eyes it was still there! In the scoop was gold with a bunch of diamonds in it. When I started to breath again I grabbed the ring and put in in my pants pocket turned an started to hunt again. After two swings I had to pull it back out, just to make sure it was what I thought it was...and it was! I checked the local lost and found adds, no one listed it as lost so my wife claimed it....yea I lost it to her. We took it to a local jeweler and when he told me what it was worth I almost fell down because it was more than three times what I payed for the ACE.
My first good find had some value to it but the dollar value isn't all that make something your first good find, just a special memory will make it a good find. I firmly believe if I hadn't been hunting with a couple of seasoned hunters using allot more detector than I was the ring would have been a good find but not a special a find.
What's your first memorable find? Do you remember the where and how you found it?

I remember mine too! It was a nickel I found on a baseball field, man I was tickled to death, Then I started to dig pulltabs, and more and more and more and more, I wore myself out that day, but I still have that nickel!

Default First good find

My first good find was the second thing I found with a metal detector.
A 1907-O Barber Half Dollar.
My first find was a clad dime.

Default First Finds

I surely remember my first memorable finds, they were all in the last 5 weeks!

On my second hunt, I got a tone...I got excited, dug that sand scoop in, gave it a shake...and there it was...a Dominican Republic 5 Peso coin! Wow! (to me!) I'm sure it's not worth much, but finding something other that a penny sure was cool. That one's a keeper.

On my fourth hunt, at Hollywood Beach, while Mini-Cash was playing in the water, I heard a high tone..did my digging and I couldn't believe my eyes! A pair of silver hoop earrings, looped together! I called Mini-Cash to come see and I was just beaming.

It's not just about the dollar value, even though I would love to find a nice diamond ring. (So would Mrs. Cash)
I enjoy the hunt, the mystery of not knowing what we are walking on top of. My 'big' finds are ahead of me, I know it. And if not, I'll just enjoy the beach!

Happy Hunting!

mine was a barber dime. I just knew I had hit the motherload site. Only found 1 IH and 2 wheats on multiple trips back. But that Barber was so cool.

Mine was a Union Calvary Civil War button. The best thing about was that I went in behind two other guys that had just left. Since then I have found 4 CW bullets, a knapsack rivet and knapsack buckle. I get excited anytime I find anything from the Civil War.
