Default dispiriting

2nd day out with new md, went to a local school yard, around the edges of the soccer field and around a baseball cage area. I found nothing but trash (bottle caps, tin, pull tabs, an belt buckle) even though I had the machine in coin mode and low sensitivity....maybe around four bars tried lower and higher. Too many beeps, pinpoint , dig and nothing! after filling back in no target was found....hmmm... dont know! I believe this school yard was land fill, as i dug up broken bottles , good thing I didnt grab a hand full! I guess the site is to blame and maybe me also. Maybe this weekend I'll try to find a more pristine site. It just looked so good grass an all!

I think every hunter has days like that. The good thing is that they inspire us to seek out "greener pastures".

Seems you are on the right path Gary, What I would do to start is, max your Discrimination out till it still picks up Quarters and Dimes and see how you make out. You will come up with less targets but better results on the dig. I don't have and Ace 250 but thats what I do with my Vaquero when I get frustrated by trash.... Stick with it, alot of Detecting is knowing your machine and its capabilities.

Gary, the best is yet to come. Allot of us talk about the good stuff buy what few talk about is how much trash we picked up finding it. It's hard to brag about a grocery bag full of can slaw or a case worth of pull tabs AND bottle caps. I don't know about most but I use multiple pocket, the trash pocket is the biggest and usually the fullest at the end of a hunt...just don't talk much about that part.
It won't take too long and you'll be able to hear the difference between some trash targets and good ones...I did say some though.

Hey Gary don't let it get you down. We have all had bad, or wierd days of hunting. You get to a site full of hope and find out it is a trash pit? Been there/ Sometimes the ones that look to be just a maybe spot produce great digs? I sure can not understand it.

Keep trying and it will happen. Nothing wrong with cherry pick'n like scubasweeper says. Good luck to you, Beale.
