Let's play detective....

Is there a way to tell if another detectorist has come through an area/spot before you? What clues would they or could they leave?

I was trying out my detector on Sunday down at a local park when this question occurred to me. I figured the TQ family might have some fun playing Sherlock Holmes. I look forward to everyone's insights!

Sometimes you will see trash laying there that someone has dug up and left...sometimes you will see brown spots where they have dug...But remember no place is really hunted out...You can go behind someone else and still find stuff..I think John said a few weeks ago that he was trying to talk to another hunter on the beach and the guy was non responsive..He then followed him down the beach and was digging up all kinds of stuff..Every body misses stuff..Good luck...Buster...

When you do your research, and find a really good spot that has alot of history, and you have the right machine, and you know your machine, and the ground dig's easy, and the moon and the stars are aligned properly. You hunt the whole area and come up with nothing but a wheaty or two. Someone beat you there.

When you go to a spot and don't even find a pull tab or bottle cap, you know that someone beat you to it.
