Default Long Lost Structures

Hey all, just wondering what (if anything) people look for when trying to figure out where old structures once stood but no longer do. I look for old growth trees standing out among younger forest. Also, look for ornamental shrubbery. Holes and mounds also tell a story. Anybody got any other suggestions?

Look for daffodils in the springtime. They will be out in the middle of nowhere and they are not native plants. Someone put them there.

Anything that is not in sync with the surroundings as was mentioned above. If It Stands out and does not seem to be a natural part of the area, I check it out.

Also another clue is to look for straightline trees.. That is, trees that were planted by a previous owner in a straight line. Most trees in nature grow randomly.. good luck

Fence lines. If an old home had fences the post may be left, or the remains of the line. One time I saw a tire swing in an old lot? Well who and how may equal old home, Beale.
