Default Sourcing New Hunting Grounds - The Easy Way

Sourcing new sites is an important part of this hobby of ours, here's an easy way to do it. Next time your driving home from work, don't take the usual route that you always take. Try a different route and check out what you find on your way home. Vacant lots, school yards, sports fields, parks and playgrounds - all great potential places to hunt. All are places that you probably wouldn't know about and since you're driving home anyway you get to scout new hunting grounds while you drive.
If you find a spot with good potential, mark it down in your map book and then you can easily find it again. The next time you get off work early or know that you don't have to be home right away, drive to the new site on the way home, pull your detector out of the back of your vehicle and get hunting.
Visual research is much better than just looking at a map or a list of parks.

Cheers,

BDA

I agree. Being there is much better than trying to visualize a map. Good advice. Thanks.

This is interesting because I always see places I'd like to MD while I'm driving... ON THE TURNPIKE! Lol!!

For some reason those big grassy areas inbetween the roads and on either side just look so... green and empty and tempting. But who owns that property and can it be hunted? For that matter,... who wants to stop on a highway where most people are hauling a$$ upwards of 80mph!?!

me.

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

Default new sites

It works, just the other day I went down a road I never go on only 2 or 3 miles from where I live, came across a old abondoned farm house & barn, did some detective work found the owner & got permission to hunt it. Did the same thing yesterday, just drove out in to the country in a direction I have never been, just looking for old home sites & came across quite few with in 10 mins or less from where I live. Then all there is left to do is get that permission!!! Good Luck Everyone!
