Hi, and welcome!
Hey, I used to have a Fisher 1266-X that I knew like the back of my hand, and I had to sell it... then I bought a BH 100 from WallyWorld for my son, and he doesn't really use it, so now it's kindof my detector... and you know what? It's not a bad machine at all!
I've found 4 silver quarters, 2 silver dimes, 2 silver rings, a big silver bracelet, couple silver charms, a huge silver belt buckle, and prolly around $40 clad with it in just a couple of months...
No, I don;t think it goes as deep or is quite as sensitive as my Fisher was, but what it DOES do for me is force me to dig stuff that I prolly wouldn't have dug with my Fisher... and I'm starting to learn the sounds it makes (even though it only has 2 tones, and I don't use but one of them)... I can tell when something's a quarter, a dime, or a zinc penny... if it's largeer and deep, or smaller and shallow, etc etc... just take the time and get to know her!
Air/ground testing is also a great way to figure out what's going on... I've actually threatened to take my BH out and actually write down what sounds it makes and what the object actually was, but I haven't done it yet... that's a real field test, and will give you the best results... air testing works to a point, but some objects that have been in the ground a long time develop a "halo" around them of metallic minerals, and this halo affects the signal... this happens mostly with iron...
Anyway hope this helps!
Robert
