Default GPS device help

I need some help with finding what I want in a good dependable device around $200. Does anyone have one of the new Bushnell series GPS units say the 200 cr? IF so , I would like to pick your brain on some information and help.
One the other hand I have a good set of topo maps from Maptech, and want to be able to upload a specific map area and use the GPS unit to get me there since most of the areas are up in the back woods and deep in the hills with no familiar or landmarks to guide me in and back out . Most of these areas are 2 to 3 miles off a main road and only acessable with a 4 wheeler or on foot. The units I have tried have a basic built in map and one can upload maps but the makers of the units want one to buy a particular set of software that they sell and in most cases the software is more than the GPS unit. Is there any out there that is capable of using any type of topo map software ?

The only hands-on experience I have with a GPS is one I use in my car (Garmin). But, a couple of my friends also have Garmin hand-helds that they use for hunting trips, etc. They've both mentioned how happy they were in being able to upload additional map programs - and I believe they purchased the units for under $200 - you might look at what Garmin has and see if any of their units match your needs...

I have a old Magellan GPS. I take it some times. If I find something interesting, I can set a WAY POINT and find my way back to within three ft of the place I took the reading. It can store your path and allow you to retrace your steps most well. I paid way to much for it. Today you can buy one that does 10 times as much and at less then 1/2 the cost.

Technology Sucks some times!
