Here were I live we have a small family run grocery called the big M.When I walk in the door I'm usually greeted with hello neighbor ! My nextdoor neighbor is one of the cashiers.A couple of weeks ago the owner handed me a box with 2 gold coins and some old silver coins and asked me to see how much they were worth.I barely know this guy but he told me to take em home and bring them back later ! My hometown about 6 miles down the road has a store that has been around since the 1800's and they still have a icecream fountain. In the morning all the locals hang out there drink coffee and gossip. There are many small stores here abouts were you can get fresh baked bread and cakes etc. There's one in fly creek NY that I stop at sometimes that has some of the most awesome baked goods you could ever eat, when you walk in the door the smells are enough to die for ! Upstate NY is a really nice place to live if not for the long winter's !

Angry times are getting tough

Economic times are getting tougher and we have to stretch out every dollar when we get a chance we stop at wal-mart and pick up a few things ......... the big wal-mart super centers are 60 miles from us 1-way so with gas price the way it is we dont get there very often only when there is a need to run 60 miles ........... we dont buy meat there ........ they really have the deals ..... we have checked at other places and we always end up back at wal-mart because its cheaper so we don't even look at target or k-mart because wal-mart has the deals
I used to work at a smaller wal-mart that is only 25 miles away from me that was not a super store ........... great place to work but the hours would some times get cut and they would send ya home or just change your hours for the week and did not really care if you had bills to pay........the hours went totally off of how many customers they have ...... all in all you were just a number to them
