Default Question about silver value

Ok, so exactly what is the face value of silver worth now? Say I found a quarter - how many "times" face is it these days?

A new quarter or a true silver one?

On the old ones the silver value is just that. If the coin is silver then it is worth its weight in silver. Now this is based on the % of silver in the coin. It also varies as the price of silver rises and falls.

Older coins are worth more than "face" value due to various factors. Those involve shape the coin is in, low number made, key dates, and more.

I have been collecting coins since I was just a kid. I still do not understand all of it. I use my red book all the time. Just too many variables, Beale.

I guess I didn't ask my question the best way ...

If I was going to sell a buck's worth (face value, say a silver dollar) of silver for bullion (disregarding collector value), at today's prices, would it be 5x face, 10x?... that's really how I should've asked that... my apologies...

Smile Silver Values

Hey Portrait

Does one of these pages help? They're how I keep track of silver values. They are updated automatically.

Silver Coin Melt Value Calculator - Coinflation.com
Silver Coin Melt Values - Coinflation.com (Updated Daily)
Current Melt Value Of Coins - How Much Is Your Coin Worth?

Today it looks like 12 to 13x face value (subject to change)

Thanks

a morgan which is a dollar by face... right now is worth somewhere between $16 and $17 melt value right now (pretty sure)..but you dont want to sell them at melt unless it is absolutly trashed because lets say you have a 1889CC in EF condition someone could take you to the cleaners ..thats a $4000 to $5000 coin..do you understand why thats kind of a hard question to answer............ohh by the way you have that coin I will buy it off of you for $20
