Question Need your advice on Metal Detectors, (ASAP)

Greeting's to all, as you can see I'm New to the forum and wanted some real good info about Metal Detectors, First i have to explain what kinda terrain I'm in and what part of the world I'm currently living in, My location is in Tripoli Libya, Yup I'm all the way over on the other side of earth, Well getting back to what I was wanting to explain is I need your advice and help, I'm looking for a new Metal Detector, and I cant seem to make my mind up, "here's what I'm looking for" a metal detector that can detect old (coin jugs), as in Roman jugs of Roman coins at a deep Depth, not just a coin. Something that can detect coins and hordes of coins in a jug deep down there ethere way in a jug or not in a jug. A depth of say from your hips down. also my budget is somewhere around 650 to 750 British pounds as I have to get it from the UK for security reasons.

Help me out......

Hey Silver...you need someone with more smarts than me....until then I would recommend researching the info on this site.....the guys on this site that use the higher end detectors Like the Whites DFX...and Mini-labs and several others give them a lot a praise and from what I understand their pretty High-Tech.....Maybe this will help until one of the more experience folks can jump in.....

Welcome to the site Silver. Glad you stopped by. it sounds like you need a "cache" finder. Now her is the rub. With one of these style units you will not be able to do normal detecting. You know coin hunting. They are not made to do that. The just find cashe type items.

Now that being said there are several models out and about that will do what you want.

Now I also know there may be more. I really can not help you decide. My suggestion is to shoot our sponsors an e-mail and ask them. Good luck with the search, Beale.

I think Anne needs to speak up here - If I remember correctly she made an amazing find - ancient jug full of coins, right?

As for buying in the U.K.... are you sure? Kellyco does *a lot* of international sales, and we get our stuff through U.K. customs nooooo problem.

I'm thinking a White's DFX? Or a Garrett CX Plus with the Depth Multiplier? The GTI2500 was mentioned and it's no joke...

I'm sure others will have better formed opinions on relic detectors - I'm a turn-on-and-go kinda gal.

Either way - welcome and please keep us in the loop. I'm sure we'll all be interested in seeing what you dig up!!
