Default Question for DFX users - new coil

I just bought the 8" DD coil for my DFX from Kellyco and have used it maybe 12 times so far. I really love the coil - the size is just perfect for the areas I hunt.

For the past two days every morning when I load my program and then try to air balance it - the DFX says - "unable to balance - using factory presets." - or something like that. And then if I do ground balance it (after it air balances using the factory presets) once you start hunting and hit a target - when you go to pinpoint - the VCO doesent work and it just says 13.5" .

So I changed coils and put on the 1400DD and the 950 and no problems. So I went hunting and after I got back to the truck a couple hours later I put the 8" back on and tried it again - and bingo - no problem. This happened two days in a row.

My question is - could this coil act up like that due to the temperature? It was about 35 degrees both mornings when I started hunting and probably about 50 when I put the 8" coil back on and it worked fine. I was thinkin its either the temp or a short somewhere in the coil but I wanted to get some opinions before I call Kellyco. Thanks
Davy

I personaly do not think the temp. would affect it. I think you have a bad coil. Ask kellyco if they have been getting any complaints.

Good luck
